All About Cider Moon

Cider Moon is a small, central Ohio based business formed in 2005 by two friends, Gail Alsdorf and Jacki Vance-Kuss.  Gail and Jacki were drawn together by their shared love of color and fiber arts.

Our first products were hand-dyed cotton and wool fabrics, but we soon added hand dyed yarn and roving to the mix.  We also produce a line of knitting and sewing patterns.

Gail has been a quilter for over 20 years.  She’s taught quilting and sewing classes for the past 10 years.  Besides quilting, Gail also enjoys sewing clothing, doing wool appliqué, and knitting.  She is heavily influenced by the American Arts and Crafts movement of the early 1900s and the works of Gustav Stickley and Frank Lloyd Wright.  She is married to Brian, has two children, Ryan and Kallen, and two dogs, Brogan and B. B.

Jacki started quilting 5 years ago, and has been dyeing fabric for nearly that long.  She has taught classes dealing with manipulation of fabric by adding color or images.  Before partnering with Gail to create Cider Moon, she had her own business, Moo Askew Designs, selling hand-dyed fabrics locally.  Although she still sews and quilts on occasion, Jacki has fallen in love with knitting and spinning.  Jacki is primarily influenced by the colors and textures found in nature, and has been known to take photo after photo of beach stones or tree bark for documentation purposes.  She is married to Travis (who is also Cider Moon’s webmaster) and has two dogs (Toby and Bela) and one cat, Ellie.
